is set to celebrate its one-year anniversary with an open house.

“We’ve had a fantastic first year,” said Scott Strand, co-owner of the studio in an emailed statement. “These open houses are a great way for us to say thank you to everyone who has supported us.”

The studio aims to teach the business side of working in the entertainment industry in addition to acting skills. “It’s not just about having good acting skills, which is important, of course, but it’s also about making a good first impression with the right supporting materials,” Strand said. “We worked on students’ headshots, portfolios and resumes.”

The studio offers open enrollment acting classes catering to all levels and all ages, Strand said. Classes include toddler theatrics for four and five year olds, acting classes for six to twelve year olds and acting classes for teens and adults. Workshops include industry showcases, acting for the camera, actors ensemble, commercial classes and public speaking classes. Private training is also available.

JDS Actors Studio was founded in 2010 by Scott and Diane Strand, whose Hollywood credentials range from acting and teaching to writing, producing and directing.

The Strands also run JDS Video and Media Productions, Inc., a video production multi-media solutions company in Temecula and North County San Diego.

The Strands opened the studio to fill a void in theatrical instruction after the Strands launched an after-school drama club for Temecula public schools, Diane Strand said in a statement.

The drama club was so well received the Strands decided to open the Actors Studio to offer dramatic arts, theatrical education and training to more people.
