Final Denial of Quarry Could Be Postponed

The decision was to be finalized at a Wednesday meeting, but more time is needed to draft the documentation.

The vote to finalize a decision that would block a planned quarry near Temecula might be postponed.

More time is needed to draft the documentation needed for the vote, according to a report for the Riverside County Planning Commission.

"(Planning Department staff members) recommend additional time be granted to further draft project denial findings," the report reads.

The project aims to build an aggregate mine called Liberty Quarry in the hills just south of Temecula. To read about the plan, click here.

Granite Construction, the company behind the quarry, vowed to appeal the decision, which would then fall in the lap of the county's board of supervisors. To read about the company's plan, click here.

As a homeowner in Temecula, I'm happy they didn't build it. I wouldn't want anything to take away from my property value.

Sounds more like the Washington Congress. Take the vote, then vote to write it up, then vote for cloture, then send it to the Supervisors to see how much obstruction they can come up with. I don't think it took this long to write the constitition.
