Hearing for Wine Country Plan Set

The meeting at the Civic Center will be the first step toward implementing a long-term plan for the rural area's development.

The first pubic hearing for a plan that will guide development was set for July 25.

The meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the in Old Town to discuss the Wine Country Community Plan, according to Mitra Mehta-Cooper, a principal planner for the county and one of the heads of the team that developed the plan.

The plan was developed by county planners and of 19 members of the , a group of volunteer stakeholders.

"This milestone is a true celebration of (the Advisory Committee's) hard work on the project, commitment to the community and exemplary collaborative process over the last three years," said Mehta-Cooper in an email.

The county made no substantive changes to the project proposal since the committee's last meeting, and each property owner in Wine Country will be individually notified of the hearing, Mehta-Cooper said.

The staff is scheduled to make a presentation about the plan, and the public was invited to comment in the afternoon. Two public hearings will be needed to make the plan official.
