Parolee Accused of Hoarding Child Porn

He was arrested today when deputies went to a home for a parole check.

An Anza man was arrested today on suspicion of collecting pornographic images of children.

Jeral Steven Cooley, 30, was arrested around 10:40 a.m. in a home in the 39000 block of Bautista Road, according to John Hall, a spokesperson for the sheriff's Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force.

"Investigators located that man… and also found more than 75 images of child pornography in Cooley's possession," Hall said in an emailed announcement.

Cooley was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on felony charges of possession of child pornography and violating the terms of his parole.

The arrest is an example of the importance of the task force, whose funding was put on the chopping block last month by the county, Hall said.

"Working together in seamless cooperation, SAFE Task Force personnel are focused on reducing incidents of sexual assault countywide by means of comprehensive registered sex offender monitoring and enforcement," Hall said.
