Back to School, Temecula Eats!, Tackle Substance Abuse: Today in Temecula

Five things to know Aug. 14 in Temecula, Calif.

1. Wednesday brings the sun and a high temperature of 92 degrees in Temecula. The overnight low will be around 60, with winds picking up in the afternoon and evening hours.

2. It's back to school today for students in the Temecula Valley Unified School District, so allow extra travel time near campuses. Today is a modified day schedule for all students. 3. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight at the Temecula Civic Center, the city, in collaboration with Hill Alcohol and Drug Treatment, is hosting the final workshop of the three-part educational series—Youth Substance Abuse. The informational workshop is free geared towards assisting parents and youth who may be dealing with a substance abuse problem or would just like to receive this invaluable information. 4. Join Temecula Eats!, an informal group that meets at noon each Wednesday at a different Temecula restaurant. Today's lunch will be held at Cosi Restaurant, 41493 Margarita Road, Suite 109 in Bel Villagio near Promenade Temecula. The City of Temecula's Senior Debt Analyst David Bilby will be there to teach the group how to "do business with the City," offering one-on-one assistance.

5. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire dropped Tuesday to its lowest amount since May 7, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $3.919. The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has fallen for 14 consecutive days and 20 of the past 21, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 5.8 cents less than one week ago, 11 cents lower than one month ago and 14.9 cents below what it was one year ago.
