Chaparral NJROTC Veterans Drill Meet

In honor of Veterans, Chaparral High School's NJROTC (Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) unit hosted the annual Veterans Drill Meet on the weekend of November 16,2013. 19 schools from as far as Henderson, Nevada joined the Chaparral unit to compete in the drill competition. There were 13 categories: Armed Inspection, Armed Regulation, Armed Exhibition, Unarmed Inspection, Unarmed Regulation, Unarmed Exhibition, Color Guard Inspection, Color Guard Regulation, Unarmed tap-out, Armed tap-out, individual competition, and four-man Unarmed Exhibition. Exhibition is the teams own routine and choreography, regulation is standard drill, and inspection is where each individual team member is inspected by an instructor. This year, Chaparral NJROTC Unarmed drill team, commanded by Macie Tayco (Junior) but due to injury Emily Wong (Senior) substituted,  won 4th in inspection and 3rd in regulation drill. Jonaline Brigham (senior) place first in Unarmed tap-out, which is similar to "Simon Says." Congratulations to these outstanding cadets and a special thank you to those who serve or have served to preserve this country's freedom.
