Community to Host Menorah Lighting on Sunday

The local Jewish community will gather to celebrate Hanukkah

The local Jewish community will gather Sunday for a community menorah lighting.

The lighting—which will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Temecula Duck Pond at 28250 Ynez Rd.—will celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah. The holiday celebrates the victory in 165 BCE of the Macabees, a group dedicated to fighting for the religious freedom of the Jewish people in Israel.

The menorah is used to celebrate the holiday with one candle lit every day for eight days.
