Thousands Gather in Fight Against Breast Cancer
The 14th annual Susan G. Komen Inland Empire Race for the Cure was held Sunday.
The 14th annual Susan G. Komen Inland Empire Race for the Cure flooded the Promenade Mall with people, while the weather did its part keeping them wet.
Early Sunday morning, 340 teams with nearly 6,500 members and hundreds of individuals didn’t let the rain stop them; they pummeled through it.
Despite a slightly lower turnout, funds raised this year have exceeded those raised last year, according to Katie Parker, executive director of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Inland Empire affiliate.

“This year’s event raised more than $690,000, 75 percent of which goes back into the community to help provide screenings and care to those in need,” said Parker.
The remaining 25 percent goes to research.
