It was a spooky good time in Temecula on Halloween.

Zombies, ghouls and monsters chased screaming trick-or-treaters at several Halloween events in Temecula.

The public was invited to ’s October Extravaganza. Which was held from 5 to 6 p.m. for special needs families and was opened to others from 6 to 9 p.m.

Every year the church puts this event on for free, and nearly 10,000 people attend, according to Alex McLean, a spokesperson for October Extravaganza.

The event had more than 20 rides, games and candy for prizes, and it was all free.

"The most important thing is that this is a free gift for the community," McLean said. "This is a way for us to say come and have a safe, fun time on Halloween"

The event is ran by volunteers, and all candy and prizes are donated for the event.

The Day31 Zombie Apocalypse Evacuation Facility was held on the other side of town.

A home in the 39300 block of Canyon Rim Cir. was converted into a safe shelter for a fictional zombie invasion.

Rebecca Comstock and her husband James have been decking their house out for the last nine years for Halloween. On average, there are 26 actors that operate the free event.

"It was terrifying, heart stopping, so scary I fell to the ground," said Sarah Mylles, 29, from Murrieta.

They have invested nearly $20,000 in props, lighting, costumes and the materials to build the maze.

Every year they change their maze, making it bigger and better.
