Lake Skinner Water Park to Be Unveiled

Improvements include a water splash pad, outdoor amphitheater and improved trails.

Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District is celebrating the completion of improvements to Lake Skinner Recreation Area with an event at the Lake Skinner Amphitheatre at 11:30 a.m Saturday May 14.

The $5.6 million in improvements include a new amphitheater and stage for use in major entertainment events like the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival scheduled for June 4-5, said Kyla Brown, recreation and tourism chief for the Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District.

"A new trail system was added that now has interpretive areas to showcase the importance of the adjacent Multi-Species Reserve and Lake Skinner itself," Brown said in a news release.

Along with these improvements, the old swimming pool was replaced with a , telling the story of how water makes its way from the mountains to homes in a fun and educational way, Brown said.

Members of the public are invited to join Third District Supervisor Jeff Stone, District Advisory Commissioner Darrell Connerton and Park District General Manager Scott Bangle to unveil the improvements.

The event is open to the public and park entry will be free for those attending the celebration, and the first 25 guests will also receive a free commemorative picnic blanket.
