Local Chapter of Mother-Daughter Philanthropic Organization Kicks Off Second Year

National Charity League Inc., Temecula Valley Chapter held a kickoff meeting for over 160 members at Hillcrest Academy in Temecula on June 16.

National Charity League is one of the nation’s most well-respected and oldest mother-daughter organizations with its mission to foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.

Currently the league has more than 188 chapters with more than 50,000 members that thrive in 22 states. Annually, its members from coast to coast volunteer about 1 million hours in their local communities.

The league’s Temecula Valley chapter added almost 60 new members which includes mothers and daughters in grades seven through 12. The chapter draws its membership from girls who live in or attend school in Temecula and Murrieta.

At the kickoff meeting mothers and daughters planned for an exciting year of service.  Representatives from the chapter’s partner philanthropies were on hand to meet new and returning members and share the missions of their organizations. 

Partner philanthropy Susan G. Komen IE Affiliate acknowledged over 455 hours of service by members last year. 

Phil Brown, League Director of Temecula Champions Baseball, was on hand to thank the league volunteers.  “Each weekend our volunteers, buddies, and players get to meet at Ronald Reagan Sports Park to enjoy the spirit of teamwork and community while creating lasting relationships that might not have otherwise been developed.  NCL helped make the season a success.”

Linda Mejia, Executive Director of partner philanthropy Jacob’s House, which provides hospitality and comfort to families with loved ones in the Temecula Valley Hospital, commended league volunteers in a letter to the chapter. 

“The girls are so energetic and enthusiastic about helping others achieve their goals,” Mejia writes.  “To accomplish the tasks involved with large-scale events is a monumental feat, and you all do it so well, with grace, dignity, and pride.”

 At the kickoff meeting, league members made a blanket for Binky Patrol, bean-filled therapy “snakes” for Littlefield at the Park, hot/cold rice bags for Michelle’s Place, and hygiene bags for Community Mission of Hope.
