Oops! Hot-Air Balloon Touches Down In Temecula Neighborhood

A call to authorities revealed no detail on the incident and no reports of injuries.

A Temecula Patch reader submitted the attached photos of a sight some Wine Country residents may be familiar with: a hot-air balloon mishap.

The photos were snapped Sept. 14 at approximately 8:15 a.m. along Nicolas Road in Temecula.

The only detail the reader gave us other than location was, “Oops!”

A call to authorities revealed no detail on the incident and no reports of injuries; it’s not immediately known who the balloon’s owner is.

Here it was in the sky that day before it landed. http://www.flickr.com/photos/38075989@N07/7992209184/

what street did it land on by Nicholas? I was watching this balloon wondering where it was going, it was hovering so slow and there was no wind that day. I was wondering where it was going to touch down.

I saw this that morning and wondered if it was off course.

You know I saw a bunch near Hemet-Ryan as well, these guys aren't paying attention to the winds again!

Actually, kinda neat.

Your're welcome Toni. I seen another balloon drift over and land somewhere in town that morning too. Further up west maybe near the 15 or 215. I think the wind was just blowing them that way haha.

We live in Vintage Hills at Pauba/Rancho Vista and Butterfield. For the first 6 years we lived here they landed in the field right behind our home. Then before Crown Hill was built they would land there. We really miss hearing the sound of the flames at about 7:30, and then watching them land!

Johanna, there is no "on-course, or off-course". wherever the wind happens to take you. we've had two land on our street since moving here in 03, near temecula middle school. these guys are mighty lucky they arent hitting light poles or worse, power lines, or even damaging homes, cars or people on the ground. not saying they should be prohibited, but am saying they should be more closely monitored. why didnt this pilot put it down before the homes; plenty of fields in the area. i think they are worried about keeping the paying customer up for the full flight rather than landing earlier when it is safer and having to refund money. i dont know if faa is involved with licensing and control, but a citation when they land in residential areas would probably stop this sort of thing.

Balloon landed on Warbler Circle in a cul-da-sac. I took this picture and remember seeing a few police officers on scene. I wonder if the pilot was given a ticket for parking an over sized recreational vehicle in a residential zone? ;)

Romney and Obama were in the basket having a conversation. The balloon couldn't hold any more hot air, so down they went.

When you hear a person complain about listening to comments about "politics" - you're listening to a liberal who cannot or has not convinced you to pay more taxes.
