Parents Unite: Local Mom to Host Diaper Drive

Alisa Padilla is asking locals to donate diapers this holiday season.

One local mom hopes to begin a Southwest Riverside tradition of helping other parents.

Alisa Padilla created "Chicks for Cheeks," a group that will host its first diaper drive on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Padilla said she decided to organize the diaper drive when she discovered food stamps couldn't purchase diapers. The donations will be given to the Temecula Murrieta Rescue Mission, she said.

The diaper drive will take place at the Albertson's on Rancho California Road from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Never ceases to amaze me how many people just fall in line like sheep to back something that was a blatant manipulation. These few folks that got burned from other Patches come over here to distort the comments & then pat each other on the backs for doing so? Is it no wonder that you people are in the mess that you're in & having to take free handouts cause you can't get your shit together? Sad.
The Teller of Truth December 07, 2012 at 08:30 PM
Well from the representation of the Temecula/Murrieta readers here, I would imagine that is an accurate statement KB.
The Teller of Truth December 07, 2012 at 08:33 PM
Are cloth diapers still available? Are you kidding me? Wow, you just proved our point!
The Teller of Truth December 07, 2012 at 08:35 PM
....and we all pay for that....one way or another. Sad but true.
The Teller of Truth December 07, 2012 at 08:39 PM
@VWDS. I totally agree!

To: Lake Elsinore Resident-will you be donating any cloth diapers to the diaper drive?
Alan Taylor December 07, 2012 at 11:18 PM
Teller of Truth, I was going to let this post go last night when Consent Commet surrendered, but I guess I am re-energized now. For clarity, who got burned by the patch? What do you mean by sheep? What is the blatant manipulation you speak of? Who besides you and Consent distorted the spirit of this news feed? I didn't see anyone on here looking for a handout, where did that come from? Not really sure who is patting people on the back either. I am really interested in hearing who the Patch burned, I really like the people at the patch that I have met, they don't seem to be the "burning type."

What began as a very generous and kind hearted gesture to help families who are temporarily down on their luck has turned into a forum for racist comments, racial profiling and just plain selfishness. If you don't want to donate - don't. But do not try to turn something good and honorable into a free for all just so you can see yourself in print. Take it elsewhere, it doesn't belong here.
Ellen Magana December 07, 2012 at 11:22 PM
To BLUESGUITAR777 - why did you find it necessary to ethnically identify the 3 women from Food For Less?
Cik Bast December 07, 2012 at 11:23 PM
Nice. They can't buy you a diaper, but a Big Mac and Liquor is fine.
Alan Taylor December 08, 2012 at 12:11 AM
BluesGuitar--I fully understand the spirit of Anita's post. Additionally I understand that yes, planning, saving and not over extending yourself financially are things that everyone should try to subscribe to. However, I think you are missing the point. Chicks for Cheeks is reaching out to people. I too am sickened by people who seem to bottom feed. I can relate to all of these things. I think you are missing the point. Without expressing your opinion on why America is in the shape it is in now, what do you think Chicks for Cheeks should get into that would satisfy you, since it appears to be offensive that she is reaching out to the needy new mothers? It seems that is what this news article is about. Oboma huh? Was that something you threw into your response for effect?

Hi Alisa. It's been a while since I've bought diapers (about 25 years), so what size is preferred, or does it matter? I checked out Costco (I LOVE Costco!) and discovered sizes 1-6 are available. (http://www.costco.com/diapers.html)
Alisa Padilla December 08, 2012 at 01:12 AM
I will take all sizes in donation! Thank you for the support! The donations help all people who need a helping hand, on public assistance or not!
LBV Collins December 08, 2012 at 01:31 AM
Hmmm... Sounds like one of each would do then, eh? :) See you at the Albertson's on Rancho California Road on Saturday, Dec. 15!
Alisa Padilla December 08, 2012 at 02:15 AM
Thank you for helping and see you then :)

Although I feel everyone is entitled to their opinion, hi jacking the post to hurl insults, spew negativity and be flat out hateful seems totally unnecessary. Not to mention that I find it odd that a few have so much time on their hands to have a running dialogue of posts instead of a single post. Anytime someone gives of themselves freely to help another human being that is a good thing. Simple as that. We all have the freedom to choose what charities or causes are important to us and participate if we feel compelled. And if you disagree with the cause or wish not to be involved, then don't. Just move on. I commend Alisa for her hard work and kind heart. She should be proud of her efforts. And as far as the racism and hate speech on here, it's just so sad. You can't reason with ignorance or stupidity though, so why try. We don't live close enough to support your specific event but we will be donating diapers & wipes to our local women's shelter in honor of your efforts. Keep up the God work.

Its pretty Sad when I ready some of these Nasty Comments... I know Everyone is entitled to there opinion , Its not about where we live or what color we are or what we Drive, Its about helping out are community, with whatever we can,,, this is a Wonderful drive Thats going to help Familys no matter what, Everyone needs alittle help in some way,,,,,, Rememeber iTs about The child...
Constant Comment December 11, 2012 at 05:41 AM
I've never known an enabler that ever made a positive change for the better, its more like a temporary change for convenience. Not all of the truthful comments were nasty, but rather just something that some people do not want to face. In any case, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and invited to write their comments here. }~)
Constant Comment December 11, 2012 at 05:48 AM
Some of these dialogs have exposed crooks on here that were soliciting donations for themselves. A lot of people "that have so much time on their hands" are older & retired & have earned the right to post their comments no matter what you think of them. Lastly, a lot of people write that they'll donate all kinds of stuff & don't. Those are the ones that should remain quiet & "just move on." }~)
Alan Taylor December 11, 2012 at 06:15 PM
Constant Comment-- I know there was a little mud thrown on your end the other day, but hopefully we can put that behind us because I have to ask about this statement.--"Some of these dialogs have exposed crooks on here that were soliciting donations for themselves". Seriously, you really think that? May I ask, who was exposed? My own opinion is some people simply do not have the wisdom or the aptitude to stay on point, and whether it is their stubborn mindedness or their flawed belief system, they feel the need to destroy someone elses good intentions by ignorantly posting useless thoughts. Please don't take this wrong, but to be straight forward and blunt, I think you are one of those people I just described. I do not think it is all your fault. If you read the article, it is about a young lady reaching out to help young mothers. I ask you to look up the unemployment rate and just get a sense of how good everyone is having it right now.
The Teller of Truth December 11, 2012 at 08:01 PM
@Alan, heres a hint for you buddy (and I say that sarcastically ) CC is too smart to get sucked into your childish, immature nonsense. In case you missed it, he dismissed you. Just because you don't understand a lot of the things that go on in the various Patches, do not think that someone is going to take the time to break it down for you. Thats not how its done son. Might I suggest that for people like you, who are so insecure with themselves, who have to hijack threads, who think this is some sort of popularity contest to feed their low self esteem......that you stick to the Murrieta Patch where you came from. I think the LE/W might be a little bit over your head. No need to retort either as I have no need to play your little mind games either.
Alan Taylor December 11, 2012 at 08:12 PM
See, my point exactly--If you engage with someone who has no clue, or it is over their head, they come off and say this is some sort of popularity contest to feed low self esteem--because they simply have no clue. Nowhere did I suggest that I have low self esteem, nor have I ever heard of some type of tart popularity contest. It is foolish comments that distort the whole spirit of the article. I don't blame you either Distorter of Truth. I blame it on the education system. Must be the "no child left behind" thing.
Snowmanbroomhand December 17, 2012 at 12:58 PM
Really, Comment? Is that how it works? Coulda' fooled me, judging by the way you and your comrades (that's Russian, by the way) were leaving comments for me all over different threads. I actually had to look at each just to find your vitriol... much like the comment I deleted but you reproduced without my permission. Only by sheer accident did I find it, buried in a thread that did not pertain to me. Again, you are contradicting yourself and I am having a lot of fun! Thanks for the endless amount of entertainment you have provided!
Snowmanbroomhand December 17, 2012 at 01:18 PM
Every post Comment and Truth write are filled with unintentional irony. Truth, another contradiction. You refer to others as "sheep" and, yet, your savior, Jesus, has always called his followers the same. Oops, sorry, allow me to dumb it down for ya, as you have proven, time and time again, you're no Einstein: You call other people sheep. Jesus called YOU (his follower) a sheep.
Constant Comment December 17, 2012 at 11:27 PM
Alen, I never said that the crooks were on THIS thread. There was a mother/daughter team who were scamming posters a few months ago. Its naive to think that these things don't happen. Its ignorant of you to jump to conclusions and try to put words in my mouth. Its pathetic of you to keep posting under different names loser.........}~)
Alisa Padilla December 18, 2012 at 05:47 AM
Thanks to the ones who supported me and to those who do not I will pray you are never in a position where you have to ask for help.
LBV Collins December 18, 2012 at 01:53 PM
Hi Alisa. I hope your diaper drive was successful. (I dropped off some diapers in the morning and it looked liked you were getting quite a few donations.)
Alisa Padilla December 18, 2012 at 05:34 PM
Thank you for coming and I am pretty sure I know who you are I just was so overwhelmed with our communities generosity that I forgot to ask. Thanks again for the support.
