As Daylight Saving Time comes to an end this weekend, firefighters want to remind Temecula Valley residents that it's also time to check on your smoke alarms.
So as we gain an hour of time Sunday, the county fire chief wants you to take a few of those minutes to test your smoke detectors around the house.
"The presence of working smoke alarms in the home can mean the difference between life and death," said Riverside County Fire Chief, John R. Hawkins. "I urge residents to use the beginning and ending of daylight savings time as a reminder to check your smoke alarms and replace faulty or broken ones.
"Always replace the batteries in each alarm on every floor of the home and test them to ensure they are in working order. Smoke detectors, when installed and tested regularly, are designed to alert you and your loved ones in the event of a fire."
Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, at which point the clocks are turned back by one hour.
