Temecula Valley Hospital Approved as a 'Stroke Ready' Hospital in Riverside County

The designation identifies Temecula Valley Hospital as a hospital that is equipped with all the necessary resources to manage a stroke patient.

The Riverside County Emergency Medical Services Agency has approved Temecula Valley Hospital a Stroke Ready Hospital in Riverside County beginning on April 1, 2014.  

The designation recognizes the hospital as stroke capable by Emergency Medical Services thus enabling potential stroke patients to be brought via ambulance to Temecula Valley Hospital.  The designation identifies Temecula Valley Hospital as a hospital that is equipped with all the necessary resources to manage a stroke patient. 

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States behind heart disease and cancer, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.  It is the leading source for long-term disability in the nation.

Chances of survival are better if the stroke is identified and treated immediately.  To identify if someone is having a stroke, using the acronym F.A.S.T., face - look for an uneven smile, arm - check if one arm is weak, speech - listen for slurred speech, and time - and call 911 immediately, could save a life.  Seeking immediate treatment can make a significant difference in the quality of life after recovery.
