Artists to Paint Streets of Old Town

Thousands are expected to gather in Old Town to cover the streets in art.

Thousands are expected to paint the town red – and every other color – during the upcoming Street Painting Festival.

The annual festival is scheduled for Friday-Sunday in Old Town, the City of Temecula announced on its website.

Artists will have two days to create the best mural they can on the pavement with chalks and pastels.

Live music is also scheduled for throughout Old Town during the festival.

The festival happens at the same time as the Ralph Love Plein Air Festival also in Old Town.

Children were welcomed to color tiny squares with chalk. Other artist will make bigger murals – some 10 feet wide by 12 feet tall.

Early registration begins at 5 p.m. Friday for artists. The festival begins at 6 p.m., just as the band “Open Road” will start its performance.

Painting will end at 9 p.m. and pick up again at 7 a.m. Saturday.

The band “Two of Us” is scheduled to play in the Town Square 5-8 p.m.

Painting will stop at 9 p.m. and start up again at 8 a.m. Sunday. Judging will start at 3 p.m., and the winners will be announced at 4 p.m.
