Curtains Fall for Theater Manager

The head of the Old Town Temecula Community Theater passes away.

One of Temecula's champions of performing arts stepped off the stage for the last time.

Bruce Beers, the manager of the , died on Thursday, according to Community Services Director Herman Parker.

The cause of his death was undisclosed.

Beers was hired in 2004 as the theater's first manager. He had more than 30 years of experience and was an expert in central operations, lighting design and all technical matters in the theater.

He had a master's degree in fine arts from UC Los Angeles and a bachelor's degree in finance from CSU Fullerton.

Before the move to Temecula, he was the director of operations at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido.

“The City of Temecula has experienced a tremendous loss with the passing of Mr. Bruce Beers,” wrote City Manager Shawn Nelson in an emailed announcement.  “We will all feel the impact of his absence, but we are grateful for his outstanding service to our citizens and bringing beauty and culture through the fine arts to our community. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends during this very difficult time.”
