Emergency Preparedness Fair

The Emergency Preparedness Fair, hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in conjunction with the Temecula Fire & Police Departments, Temecula Citizen’s Corps (TCC) Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) and Neighborhood Watch, will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 43940 Pacific Sunset Drive, near Temecula Parkway. Admission is free and open to the public.

“Earthquake news videos and survivor stories from Japan and New Zealand highlight the importance of disaster preparedness and of responding appropriately from the very first second the shaking starts,” said Roger Johnson, Preparedness Coordinator for the Meadowview Ward. Community members are invited to stroll through booths and demonstrations on 72-hour food kits, emergency preparedness backpacks, solar and Dutch oven cooking, water storage, emergency car packs, long term food storage and rotation, emergency generators and amateur emergency radio (HAM). The Temecula Police and Fire Departments will be on site with current information and to answer questions, the CERT Team will distribute information about their program and trainings for members of the community, and Neighborhood Watch will help community members get connected.
