The Suite Life

Presented by Golden Valley Music Society and Temecula Presents
We often use music to tell stories, and that's very much the case with this concert. The featured work is Stravinsky's Pulcinella Suite, from his 1920 ballet. The choreographer of the ballet was Diaghalev, and the sets and costumes were designed by Pablo Picasso. The first of Stravinsky's neoclassical works, Pulcinella is based on music by the 18th century composer Pergolesi, and recalls the structure of orchestral suites of Pergolesi's time by composers such as Bach.

J. S. Bach, Suite No. 1 in C Major
