The City of Temecula honored Dominguez by naming a day after him. To read about that, .

Then, a stage hand escorted Dominguez onto the stage to a set of bongos.

With his only arm, Dominguez jammed along with the group as it played "Smooth" by Carlos Santana.

"Gary, God bless you," a woman shouted from the crowd. "Gary, you're the man," another person shouted.

The concert was great, but the cause was even better, some attendees said.

"It's a great show, and it's a great cause. We're really here to support the soldier," said Steve Swanson, 46, a Murrieta resident.

Sinise's stardom was a draw for some attendees.

"She's a Gary Sinise fiend," said Ladean Bellmar about her aunt, Lois McConner, who was standing nearby.

They drove to Temecula from Los Angeles to see the show, Bellmar said.

For some locals, having such a big event in their neighborhoods was a great excuse to get out of the house. "I don't really get out too much, so this is really fun for me," said Menifee resident Bridgett Hardin.
