2014 Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival Now Accepting Entries; No Venue Announced

The festival's director is promoting the event to run Sept. 17-21, 2014, but she was mum on where the action will take place.

A venue has not been established for the 2014 Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival, but festival director Jo Moulton is promising the "rebranded, restructured" 2014 gala will be bigger and better than ever.

Moulton is promoting the event to run Sept. 17-21, 2014, but she was mum on where the action will take place.

"I can say that it will be at multiple venues throughout the Temecula Valley," she explained by phone Tuesday afternoon.

City of Temecula spokeswoman Christine Damko confirmed no permit applications for a 2014 TVIFF have been submitted to the city.

Moulton said potential venues are being looked at in the city, as well as in Wine Country.

Moulton's big push now, she said, is to get submissions for the proposed 2014 event.

The TVIFF, having been on hiatus since 2012, is already receiving entries for 2014, according to Moulton.

“What is so exciting is that even prior to issuing a formal call for entries, primarily through social media, we have already received entries from Belgium, Spain, Portugal, South Korea, Germany, France, Iran, Italy, the UK and of course, the U.S.

“If your film tells a good story and your music tugs at the heart of your and our audience, we invite you to submit," she said in a released statement.

Speaking on the phone, Moulton said the TVIFF was put on hold during 2012-13 due to personal and financial reasons.

"I was tired and the economy tanked," she said.

The first TVIFF, which Moulton founded, was held in 1995.

According to Moulton, the 2014 film component of the festival is open to U.S. and foreign films in five categories: Narrative features, shorts, documentaries, animation and student films. To be eligible, a film entry must have been completed in 2012, 2013 or 2014. The music component welcomes entries from all genres of music, from rock to pop, folk to jazz to reggae.

Unlike previous years, winners will be awarded cash prizes at 2014 Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival, according to Moulton.

The festival's calendar of events is scheduled to start with Opening Night festivities, followed by daily and nightly film screenings, networking parties, an industry marketplace, a consumer artisan collective, industry panels and workshops, a Black Tie Awards Gala, and more, according to Moulton.

Filmmakers and musicians can submit their film to Withoutabox at http://tinyurl.com/tviff (film) or http://www.sonicbids.com/tviff(music) or download paper entry applications at http://www.tviff.com.
