UPDATED: Motorcyclist Leads Temecula Police On Chase

UPDATE 6:07 p.m. May 23: Temecula police have yet to locate a motorcyclist who allegedly prompted a chase Thursday afternoon from Jefferson Avenue and Overland to the Temecula Town Center on Rancho California Road.

At about 12:45 p.m., the suspect allegedly drove away from officers who attempted to pull him over near Jefferson and Overland on suspicion of speeding and possible driving under the influence.

The suspect ditched his motorcycle at the shopping center. From there police conducted a ground and air search.

As of 5:20 p.m., Temecula police Sgt. Dean Spivacke said the suspect was still outstanding.

"We got his bike and a possible ID but no one in custody," Spivacke told Patch.

The motorcycle, which police found behind a business in the center, was described as a "red street bike."

Anyone who may have information regarding the incident or the suspect's identity or whereabouts was encouraged to call 911.

ORIGINAL POST 1:36 p.m. May 23: A motorcyclist who allegedly led police on a chase Thursday in Temecula is being sought.

According to Sgt. Dean Spivacke of the Temecula Police Department, deputies attempted to pull the male motorcyclist over at Jefferson Avenue and Overland Drive around 12:45 p.m. on suspicion of speeding and driving under the influence, but the rider took off.

The motorcyclist was tracked to the Temecula Town Center shopping complex at Ynez and Rancho California roads, but he escaped capture. The red street bike was found abandoned behind one of the businesses in the center, Spivacke said.

Police are continuing to search for the suspect using ground patrols as well as a sheriff’s helicopter. No further descriptions of the suspect or the motorcycle were provided by police.

Anyone who may have information about the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
