At-Risk Kids Get New Bikes

A sheriff's deputy refurbished several cycles for members of the PAL program.

Six kids got new bicycles for Christmas, courtesy of volunteer sheriff's officers.

The league is run through , a nonprofit dedicated to helping abused women and children.

"Gerry offered to repair some bikes at the station to be given to some deserving youths for Christmas," said Patti Drew in an emailed announcement.

Les Campbell, the owner of in Temecula, offered to help. "(He) said he would be happy to check out the bikes and do a final tune so they were Christmas ready for the youth," Drew said.
