Expectant Military Couples Showered With Gifts

Local organizations are coming together to throw a deployed Military spouses' baby shower Jan. 28 in Temecula.

The due date for a baby shower for deployed Military spouses is approaching.

Military Ministry from St. Catherine's of Alexandria in Temecula and Soldiers Angels, along with other organizations from the cities of Temecula and Murrieta, are hosting the shower Jan. 28.

Fifteen spouses have already registered, but there is space for 20 more, organizers said.

"In the quest of providing support to military families in the community—especially during deployment—we are organizing a shower to reach out and find out what the community needs are," said Reyna Reyna, of Military Ministry.

Reyna, whose husband is in his 27th year as active Military, said she has been volunteering with Soldiers Angels for four years. The organization sends "showers in a box" to expectant active Military.

She said donations for the shower such as cribs have started to pour in.

"We are trying to get the community involved," Reyna said. "There are people who want to help but don't know how."

And there are Military who live off base locally who don't know who to turn to for help, Reyna said.
