Rally Set to Oppose Obama's Birth Control Plan

Pro-life organizations plan to show their opposition to the president's mandate that employers provide insurance plans that include birth control.

Obama's plan to force employers to offer insurance plans that include birth control is set to be protested on Friday.

A rally is scheduled for noon at to support "religious freedom," according to the Pro-Life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society.

The organizations aim to show their opposition to a mandate from the Department of Health and Human Services advocated by President Barack Obama that would require all employers -- even religiously affiliated organizations -- to offer insurance that includes birth control.

Some organizations consider birth control immoral, and they should not be forced to pay for it, the organizations state.

The department points to the benefits to women's health and finances as reasons for the mandate. "Scientists have abundant evidence that birth control has significant health benefits for women and their families, is documented to significantly reduce health costs, and is the most commonly taken drug in America by young and middle-aged women," said the department's secretary, Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, in an official statement.

Birthers against Birth Control? I guess since Obama has saved the economy and killed public enemy #1, conservatives can focus on taking our country back to when a woman's place was being barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.

Because curtailing access to birth control will result in fewer abortions... makes perfect sense.

Hey Popeye...isn't that a big pair of tea-bags stuffed in your cheeks...

Tea Baggers dumb dumbs at it again.

This is a very contentious issue. I think the federal government should keep their crooked noses out of the states' business. I also think government at all levels should keep their noses out of a woman's business regarding health care decisions.

The government soup-kitchen nanny-state entitlement folks should love this get-together.

Tea Baggers without a cause..

who is going to be around to be protested at on a weekday at noon? Wouldn't you think doing it on the same day as the farmers market would make more sense?

This is NOT about birth control, but religious freedom. AND The mandate also insists that sterilizations And abortifacient pills be covered. These are also immoral and against freedom of religion.

So this rally might not be the greatest spot to pick up on chicks then?

My grandmother had fourteen children. None of her children had more than three kids. All of them were loved and raised beautifully. What's all the fuss? This is not an issue of religious freedom. It's all about the woman's right, as well as the man's, to bring a family into the world as they see fit. The Pope tells women it's a sin to use a contraceptive, but who listens. This is the 21st century. Let's work on education issues and getting well paying jobs for people.

If what the scientists say is true, then I am in favor of using my tax money. But, also, this is a womans issue and women should do as they wish without having men interfere.
Only my thought March 21, 2012 at 01:29 AM
This is perfect! If its against peoples religion then they don't need to use the benefits. No matter what Mr.Obama CAN NOT make everyone happy

Wow! Had no ideal LE folks haven't joined the 21st century. Birth control and/or abortion is a women's right to choose, and as far as you paying for it - the question is should you pay for my choice to have idiots with driver's licenses, which is the same thing and the answer is yes. Apple just sold over 3 million iPad 3s all made in China while many of you pass the numerous homes in LE up for foreclosure, which I am sure you believe any assistance to those your old neighbors would be welfare, but consider the bail-out of big corporations was perfectly fine. Where am I? Bandwagonville.

It does'nt mean they have to take them, use them, or endorse them in any way, it just means they have to be available.
SPB March 21, 2012 at 02:30 PM
I disagree with that sentiment. It has nothing to do with religious freedom and everything to do with the Republican party looking for a moral rally point for this year's elections. Sadly the geniuses in the party decided to fight this 50 year old battle again and market it as religious freedom. Most people see right through it. If you don't like the mechanisms by which our nation supplies health coverage through employers, then thats a fair argument to make, but to pretend like big bad government is being a bully because the catholic church has refused to join the 21st century in regards to contraception misses the entire substance of the issue at hand, namely, whose responsibly should it be to provide medical coverage for Americans?

So by your logic would it be ok for an employer who is a Christian Scientist to deny an employee a lifesaving blood transfusion because it is against their beliefs?

For those of you who have children, did you know that this "health" plan now includes your 15 year old children being able to sterilize hemselves without parental notification or permission. Did you also know that a 12 year old can go to Old Town and get an abortion with no parental notification because the CA voters asked for this? Be careful when you tell the government that you want their help with your healthcare. I guess sterilization of our kids yields population control. Bet many didn't know that Obamacare included this. This is what Nancy P meant by "we'd know what it contained" when it started...and we're all paying our tax dollars for this bill of goods.

Please watch this video of an 11.5 week gestation baby and tell me anyone has the right to kill it because it's not a baby? http://birthchoicetemecula.com/unplanned-pregnancy/fetal-development/ Because it's not born yet? If we think that way then we shouldn't be surprised when the government helps to put us to death early because we are unhealthy 60 year olds who are using up too many resources and have outlived our usefulness.....Respect for Life happens at both ends. Shame on us for not standing up for the near 60 million children that have been put to death because of greed and a desire to live a less complicated life. May God have mercy on all of us.
