5 Questions for Gary Stein—Outspoken Marine and Real Estate Agent

Marine sergeant Gary Stein is known for his conservative views. Now that he will be leaving the Marine Corps, he will pursue real estate full time.

Gary Stein has become famous as the outspoken  after expressing anti-Obama sentiments online.

The Murrieta resident has sold real estate in the Temecula Valley after his work day on base and now plans to pursue the field full time, he told Patch.

Patch gave him a call and asked him about Gary Stein Homes.

Patch: How did you get into real estate?

Stein: I got into real estate in 2009, mainly because of TV. I saw all these shows with real state agents. I got interested in it … I decided I wanted to get my real estate license so I set out and I did it.

Patch: Do your conservative values play a role in how you conduct business?

Stein: I don’t think being conservative, or a liberal or a Democrat makes you any better or worse becoming a real estate agent. I think what it comes down to is your principles as a person … The home is still the American dream in this country. It is something I want to help them find — watching someone walk into a house and watch their dreams unfold.

Being a conservative, it makes it more of a big deal for me … Being nine years in the military protecting the American dream, I am not protecting it as I am providing it.

As a conservative, to me … if something smells fishy about this loan or about this house I’m going to raise my hand and say something. … To me selling and buying houses it’s about the person doing it, it’s not about me.  I’m worried about the individual homeowners.

Patch: Can you tell me about the biggest challenge military families face in the real estate market?

Stein: One is getting past the facade that they can’t own a home. Obviously, it comes down to budget and financing. So, if you buy this house and you might get orders to North Carolina and you know they have to worry about what are they going to do with the house. The house is not something you walk away from. I think that is the biggest problems military families run in to when buying a home.

I identify with military families because a lot of realtors haven’t served in the military. The most some know about it is the VA loan … I’ve been doing it for nine years when I talk to people are buying selling or investing, I know what they’re talking about.

Patch: Do you think the media attention so far will help or hurt you?

Stein: I think it could go either way really — meaning some people are going to see it as a good thing and some will see it as bad. But my work ethic as a Realtor will not be change either way. One thing the Marine Corps has never hit me on was my work ethic because I enjoy hard work and I love a challenge — that’s why I got into Real Estate.

Patch: Social media is a big part of your generation’s life and I see you have a Facebook page for Gary Stein Homes. How will the internet play a role in business?

Stein: Social media is a huge part of my business. With Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, you can reach thousands of people in the local area. And not only that, you can reach small business owners. I think small business is great.

You have all the apps like Trulia. You can go on Trulia.com and find out all the stats by yourself. It’s amazing it’s an amazing tool that my generation is going to use. The next generation is probably going to have something cooler than us

In answer to question #4, Stein says: "But my work ethic as a Realtor will not be change either way. One thing the Marine Corps has never hit me on was my work ethic because I enjoy hard work and I love a challenge" He lies again ... here's exactly what the Corps has to say about his work ethic: http://ia601204.us.archive.org/20/items/gov.uscourts.casd.380640/gov.uscourts.casd.380640.23.7.pdf

Bill S> I can guarantee you that Stein will set up a foundation or "patriotic" website to take money from you. Those who rabidly hate the President are perfect targets for these scams. As a civilian, Stein can use your money to enjoy life without having to get a real job. You can take that to the bank (I mean to HIS bank). He went into solo real estate not because he thought he could be effective, but because he is incapable of following orders from a supervisor in civilian life - just as he was in the Corps. If I were Stein, I would start a Presidential exploratory committee, with Joe "The Plumber" as Vice President. The money will pour in. My only caution to you Bill is this from the first CIC. George Washington said in his Farewell Address, "Beware the imposters of pretended patriotism."

I am a Realtor in Temecula with access to real estate records. My research indicates that Mr. Stein's California Department of Real Estate (DRE) license number of 01886295 was issued September 3, 2010. According to the CRMLS (Riverside County MLS) of which he is a member, Mr. Stein is credited with only one sale - representing a buyer, which closed escrow on September 19, 2012 using conventional financing. Our neighboring San Diego County MLS shows zero history for him.
