Temecula Valley Hospital to Open Monday

Come 9 a.m. Monday, Temecula Valley Hospital’s doors will be open to patients, it was announced Friday.

Temecula’s first and only hospital has received the green light from the California Department of Public Health to begin providing patient care, according to a news release.

Before the facility at 31700 Temecula Parkway could open, it was required to undergo a thorough survey of the hospital that began about three weeks ago.

“A team of 10 surveyors that included nursing professionals, pharmacists, physicians, and registered dieticians conducted a comprehensive survey of each department that reviewed staff competency and training and inspection of equipment to ensure safety for quality patient care,” stated Marcia Jackson, spokeswoman for Temecula Valley Hospital.

With state licensure obtained as of Friday, the hospital is ready to move forward with providing a full range of hospital services that include emergency care, high-tech surgical suites, private patient rooms and 24-hour visitation, according to Jackson.

Temecula Valley Hospital CEO Darlene Wetton said everyone at the hospital is enthusiastic to begin serving the community.

“Our employees and the medical staff are very excited and honored to open a hospital dedicated to providing patient centered, family sensitive care to serve the surrounding region,” Wetton stated.

According to Chief of Staff Abayomi Odubela, MD, internal medicine, the goals of the medical staff are “to provide consistent high quality medical care to each and every patient and to provide that care in a respectful and collaborative manner with the patient, their family, and all members of the care team.”

Temecula Valley Hospital is under the management of parent company United Health Services, Inc., which also manages Southwest Healthcare System’s Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta and Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.

Construction of the Temecula site took 19 months and was completed in May.
