Wine Country Protection Group Hosts Event

Food, wine, dancing and a concert open to the public to be held this Saturday at Falkner Winery.

The Protect Wine Country Association invited the public to a special night of food, dancing, live music and fun.

The "Wine Country Roundup" will be at Falkner Winery on September 2 beginnig at 5pm and will feature food, a buffet dinner, barbeque, dancing and a concert, event spokesperson Annette Brown wrote in an announcement.

The night's festivities are sponsored by Protect Wine Country Association, a group whose goal is to maintain the rural feel of the region.

“The night is all about protecting and preserving wine country. What happens in wine country effects all of us in one way or another, so we all have a vested interest in protecting what we love so much about Temecula and our wine country,” said winery owner and event organizer Loretta Falkner.

A special buffet dinner featuring a swath of gourmet food will be available at The Pinnacle Restaurant from 5-7 p.m. for $15.

In addition to the gourmet buffet, the event will feature an outdoor barbque with burgers, ribs, pulled pork and other grilled staples.

The buffet and the barbecue are open to everyone and not part of the separate concert ticket, Brown stated.

Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their western wine country roundup best and try their hand at line dancing, the Texas 2 Step and wine country style bull roping, Brown recently wrote.

Learn to line dance and do the "Texas Two Step" or try your luck at roping the bull Wine Country style from 7-8 p.m.

An array of great wine from several local wineries and beer will be available.

Treats will be available for purchase, including Kettle corn, cupcakes and cookies, Brown said.

Country singer Rachel Star is a local favorite and will begin her concert at 8pm. Recently she sang the “National Anthem” for major sporting events such as the Padres, Lakers, Kings, SD Polo, HBO live Boxing, San Diego Polo Club, Del Mar Racetrack and Nascar.

Seating is open, so come early, Brown said. Concert tickets cost $20 and are available by clicking here o,r if available, admission is available at the door for $25.00.
