10-YEAR-OLD GOLF PRODIGY TO PLAY 100 HOLES OF GOLF TO FIGHT EYE CANCER

Kyle Lograsso, the young golf phenom who fought a rare eye cancer at the age of three, will lead the field in a one-day marathon of golf set for Friday, July 20, at Legends Golf Club in Temecula, Calif.

The TKE (Through Kyle’s Eyes Foundation) Fight Fore Sight 100 (www.kylelograsso.org/f4s100) is sponsoring an intense day of golf and a chance to help fight a rare form of cancer that robs children of their eyesight, according to Jeff Lograsso, father and caddy for 10-year-old Kyle. The Fight Fore Sight 100 event will feature Kyle and up to 36 additional golfers playing 100 holes of golf in a single day – all in an effort to raise money and awareness to end Retinoblastoma, the disease that took Kyle’s left eye at three years old.

“I’m playing 100 holes to fight Retinoblastoma, and hope other golfers will join us for this event,” Kyle said. “You don’t have to be a great golfer to play and you don’t even have to play 100 holes of golf. This is meant to be a fun day.

“Even though I lost my left eye, I still consider myself lucky because I’m cancer-free now and have a lot to look forward to. But I worry about other kids who might not be so lucky, and that’s why we’re holding this event. I know 100 holes is a lot of golf, but it’s the best way I know to draw attention to this horrible disease.”

Kyle broke on the scene as a standout golfer at the age of three shortly after the cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgeries. He’s been profiled in major newspapers and golf publications, including Golf World and Golf Digest, and has appeared on ESPN, “HBO Real Sports,” “Good Morning America” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” The fifth-grader attends Temecula Preparatory School in
Murrieta, Calif., and lives with his father, mother Regina, and sisters Kristen
(18) and Kaley (15). Kaley also attends Temecula Preparatory while Kristen, a
2012 graduate from the school, will attend Roanoke College in Virginia this fall.

The Lograssos acknowledge that playing 100 holes of golf may not be possible for every golfer, so they’re encouraging golfers to play as many holes as possible. Golfers will be given their own carts for the day, and refreshments will be provided. The Legends Golf Club has closed the course for the fundraiser, which tees off at 6:30 a.m.

The event is also seeking people to sponsor golfers who have committed to play, as well as business sponsors and donors. Flag sponsorships start for as little as $200.

Volunteers are also needed for the day to drive refreshment carts, work the registration table, rake bunkers, repair divots and handle other course maintenance, and serve as hole-in-one witnesses for all Par 3 holes. Volunteers can participate for the entire day or as many hours as possible.

“We’d like to thank our golfers and the Legends Golf Club, as well as our sponsors Cleveland Golf, the Variable, a digital marketing company with Fortune 500 clients, and Loudmouth Golf,” Jeff Lograsso said. Lograsso is a 19-year Marine currently serving as a gunnery sergeant out of Camp Pendleton. “They’ve already been so generous, and we hope we can appeal to the community for even broader support. My wife and I had two healthy children before Kyle was born. The truth is, this thing can affect any family at any time. We – and especially Kyle – are driven to do all we can to help fund eye cancer research, and we’re reaching out to others to join us in our fight.”
