Teens Transitioning To Adulthood Invited To City-Sponsored Workshop

Youth and young adults will learn career and job development skills at a workshop on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The following is a news release from the City of Temecula:

The City of Temecula in collaboration with Temecula Valley Unified School District, Toward Maximum Independence, Inc., and Devry University will be hosting an Inclusive Youth Job Development Workshop on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 10:00 – 2:00 pm at the Temecula Conference Center.  

The Inclusive Youth Job Development Workshop is geared towards youth and young adults between the ages of 16-23 years old who are transitioning from high school to adulthood. The workshop will give youth an opportunity to identify skills, learn job search techniques, resume writing strategies, interviewing techniques, work readiness skills and job retention. The City of Temecula will be providing a continental breakfast while lunch will be provided through a generous donation from Chick Fil A, Temecula.

In addition, the City of Temecula has an Inclusive Internship Program that places individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings within the City. Many young adults with special needs have been given an opportunity to learn new skills and have earned opportunities for employment in the community as a result of the program.

The Inclusive Youth Job Development Workshop will be the first of many workshops as the Human Services Division is underway with creating more services and programs to better engage and prepare youth for their future.
