Two women killed in Sunday’s two-vehicle crash on Domenigoni Parkway, east of Temecula, have been identified, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office is reporting.

Monica Rochin, 49, and Rosy Vargas, 35, both of Menifee, died at the scene after the sedan they were traveling in was broadsided by a pickup truck at the intersection of Leon Road shortly before 12 noon.

Both women were pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m. Neither was ejected in the crash, according to the coroner’s office.

According to a report from Cal Fire/Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, four other people were injured in the crash and required extrication from the wreckage.  One person with major injuries was transported via air ambulance to an area hospital; three with major injuries were transported via ground ambulance to area hospitals, according to the report.

Animal control was called in to assist two injured dogs – one of the animals was believed to be a Chihuahua.

The crash is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.

How are the surviving family members? The child? The family dogs? The driver of the truck? Continued prayer for the injured and the families...

Just as I made a post the other day about it appearing that drivers in Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee have become more careful, considerate of other drivers and obeying traffic laws, here we go with another big one. With deaths. I have not read anywhere yet, but was this a failure to stop at red light? Or is there any reason yet for the wreck with consequent deaths? My heart goes out to these womens families and friends, and to those injured I hope you recover fully. May your God carry you through the times when you cannot take another step forward due to the unending sadness, pain, and anger.

Brenda, you must have missed the original stories. It was a pair of idiots in two other vehicles, racing down Domenigoni Parkway. The Lexus was hit by one of the racers. The other racer got away.

Thanks GD, I did a search and found the first article with the updates, thanks. Very bad bad story. I did not read that one of the racers got away, and boy I sure hope they catch them. That street has alot alot of racing as does Menifee Rd and Margarita. There are some streets made for it from Menifee, Murieta and Margarita. We have been blessed for a few months now not to have any real bad accidents, and I use the word accidents lightly because most are always some idiot doing something stupid like running red lights, stop signs, speeding, texting. That Tawnya actually saw "fricking lookie loos" taking pictures of the people injured and dead just makes me so made. Next time, please dont let there be a next time, someone take pictures of the picture taking "looky loos" so we can post them all over Patch. May these innocent children of God rest in peace and may your families and friends try to find some comfort even with all the pain and anger they are feeling right now. I know I would be so so angry that IDIOTS racing took your lives when it wasnt your time, it wasnt your families time to be without you. Justice will be served down and I pray it is with a hard hand of God with no chance to repent.
