Sheriff's deputies staffing a checkpoint in northeastern Temecula arrested one motorist suspected of driving while impaired and cited four others for alleged license violations, sheriff's officials said Saturday.
The checkpoint was staffed on Winchester Road, at Nicolas Road, near Chaparral High School, according to Riverside County sheriff's John Magnan.
It was in operation from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.
Deputies screened 1,544 vehicles, sending 72 vehicles to a spot for closer inspection, the sergeant said.
Seven field sobriety tests were administered and 10 vehicles were towed, the sergeant said.
A total of 2,307 vehicles passed through the checkpoint overnight, the sergeant said.
