Explosions to be Heard from Camp Pendleton

Units are training to use the mine breaching devices this weekend.

Explosions may be heard and shaking felt in Temecula this weekend.

Camp Pendleton units will be conducting Mine Clearing Line Charge exercises noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Mine clearing line charges are 1,750 pounds of linked C-4 (Composition C) explosives used to create a breach in minefields under combat conditions.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
