French Valley Marine Killed in Helicopter Crash

Sgt. Justin Everett of French Valley was identified by family as one of seven Marines killed in a Marine helicopter crash Wednesday near Yuma, Ariz.

A 33-year-old Marine sergeant from French Valley was among those killed Wednesday in a helicopter crash near Yuma, Ariz., the Fresno Bee reported.

Camp Pendleton-based Marine Sgt. Justin Everett was identified to the newspaper by his father, James Everett, as one of the victims. A 10-year Marine veteran, the sergeant is survived by his wife, Holly, his father told the newspaper, and a 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son.

The Marine Corps has yet to formally release a list of those killed when two helicopters collided mid-air near the California-Arizona border town during a training exercise.

Everett grew up in Fresno, the newspaper reported, and was preparing for his third war time tour of duty.
