Fight Over Parking Spot Ends in Arrests

Two women are arrested when they allegedly threaten a woman in the mall's parking lot.

A dispute over a parking spot at the Promenade mall ended in two arrests today.

The suspects -- whose names were not released today -- were arrested on suspicion of challenging a victim to a fight, according to Temecula Police Officer Stephen Douglass.

The victim and the suspects were both trying to park their vehicles in the same stall on the ground floor of the structure around 3:45 p.m. behind the . The victim ended up in the stall, and the two suspects got out of their car and challenged the suspect as she sat in her car, Douglass said.

"I did nothing wrong," one of the victims yelled from the back of a patrol car to a friend standing nearby.

The victim -- who wished to remain nameless for fear of her safety -- said she took their parking space by mistake. "I accidentally cut them off," she said. "I'm a good, honorable citizen. I didn't mean to cut them off."

The two women approached the victim and waved their fists at her, put up their middle fingers and flicked their cigarettes at her while she locked herself in her car and called 911, she said.

The two suspects were cited and released the same day.
