Fire Destroys Building in Sage

The blaze devours four acres before being contained.

A building and four acres of vegetation were destroyed in a wildfire in Sage today.

The blaze was reported at 1:08 p.m. on Sage and Cactus Valley roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters showed up and found the building ablaze and three to five acres burning. The temperature was 105 degrees with 10-15 mph winds, according to Melody Hendrickson of the fire department.

Eighty-four firefighters, nine engines, a helicopter and an air tanker controlled the blaze by 3 p.m., according to Hendrickson.

Half an acre of miscellaneous debris and automotive parts was also destroyed, Hendrickson said.
