Fire Destroys Home, 50 Acres in Anza

The blaze burns uncontrolled near Cary Road and Tripp Flats Road, and locals are being evacuated.

A fire destroyed a home and devoured 50 acres in Anza today.

The blaze was reported at 12:42 p.m. at Cary and Tripp Flats roads and was uncontained as of 2:30 p.m. A double-wide mobile home and one other structure were completely destroyed, according to firefighters on the scene.

Thirty engines, two helicopters, six air tankers and 203 firefighters were battling the blaze as of publication time. Nearby residents were being evacuated, and CHP officers closed several roads. The cause of the fire was under investigation, Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire said.
