Hair Styles Benefit Breast Cancer

The Discovery Isle Child Development Center in Temecula holds a "Cut-a-Thon for Cancer."

A Temecula private school gave raised $900 for breast cancer research by giving haircuts.

The raised the money in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Discovery Isle raised $600 last year, according to Ashley Boarman, a spokesperson for the school.

Local stylists gave students, staff and their families new styles and colorful feather hair extensions.

"The school is well on its way to doubling the amount of money raised this year and will continue to support the school's teachers and staff who are walking in the event on Oct. 16," Boarman said.
