Lanes Close for Widening Project

One of the I-215's southbound lanes will be closed in the late-night hours.

A closure will affect drivers using the I-215 starting tomorrow.

At least one lane on both the southbound and northbound I-215 from Murrieta Hot Springs Road to Scott Road will close, the Riverside County Transportation Commission announced today.

The closures will run from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday-Thursday and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday.

The closures will let crews work on a project that will widen the freeway by one lane in each direction along this stretch and improve the drainage along the shoulder, the commission said.

"Work will occur within the existing freeway median, which will reduce the project's impact on the community," the commission announced.

Construction is expected to last about 16 months, according to the announcement.

Also, daytime bridge construction was scheduled at the Keller Road undercrossing.
