Magnitude 3.1 Quake Shakes Anza

The earthquake follows a tremor with its epicenter less than a mile away.

A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck the mountains near Anza today.

The quake hit at 10:42 a.m. with its epicenter about six miles southeast of Highway 74 at Highway 371, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It struck less than two hours after a tremor rattled the area with its epicenter less than a mile away.

The tremor had a magnitude of 1.0, and its epicenter was just west of the later quake's epicenter, according to the agency.
