Noise From Camp Pendleton Training May Reach Temecula

The explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away, depending on atmospheric conditions, according to base officials.

Troops at Camp Pendleton are set to conduct live fire exercises this week, and the explosions may be heard across Southwest Riverside County.

Today through Friday, the troops are firing high-explosive munitions into the Zulu and Whiskey impact areas on the base. Live artillery fire and live mortar fire are being used.

The exercises are expected to take place each day from 6 a.m. to midnight.

According to base officials, depending on atmospheric conditions, the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
