Organic Foods Abound at Promenade Temecula Farmers Market

The lifestyle shopping center has added 17 new local producers to its Certified Farmers Market.

News release submitted by Promenade Temecula:

Discovering the benefits of adding fresh organic foods can be as simple as a visit to Promenade Temecula. According to the Organic Trade Association, 78 percent of American families purchase organic foods. In keeping with this trend, Promenade Temecula is giving community members more opportunities to enjoy a larger selection of healthy, organic foods this Spring with the introduction of 17 new food providers at its weekly Certified Farmers Market.

The shopping center’s Farmers Market, which takes place each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., recently added six new farmers, five plant merchants, and six food vendors.  Together, these new additions will bring a fresh mix of locally grown fruits, organic vegetables, and homemade goods to Promenade Temecula shoppers, according to Kym Espinosa, Director of Marketing for Promenade Temecula.

“With so much attention being put on what we eat and how those choices effect our whole health, it makes sense for our certified farmer’s market to  build awareness and expand opportunities for local community members to enjoy healthy, organic foods,” explains Espinosa. “The trend of eating organic continues to increase in our community, as more and more people gain an understanding of the benefits of eating whole and raw foods.  Through our Certified Farmers Market, we provide the opportunity for our shoppers and their families to learn more about organic eating, while also supporting our local farmers and agricultural producers.”

Since launching its weekly Certified Farmers Market, Promenade Temecula has grown the market to 21 certified farmers, including eight organic farms. The newest farm additions to the market include:

• San Diego- based J. R. Organics, a fifth-generation family farm selling certified organic row crops.
• Atricks Farm from Anza, Calif., which offers a wide variety of Asian vegetables and greens.
• Local vegetable producer, Corona Farms.
• Oakes Knoll Ranch from Fallbrook, Calif., which will bring a variety of citrus, avocados, and vegetables to the Promenade Temecula Farmers Market.
• Tamecula-based farm, Crow's Pass, which produces oragancic greens and mushrooms.
• Ruby  Farm, which will bring a selection of blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries to the market.
The Promenade Temecula Farmers Market has also introduced a variety of new plant merchants, including:• Raphael Lopez, which produces a variety of succulents.
• Orchids by Zeny from Perris, Calif.
• Flowres by Hildago from Vista, Calif.
• Temecula- based Chardonnay Nursery and Atkins Nursery from Fallbrook, Calif., both of which bring bedding plants and fruit trees to the market.
The Farmers Market has also added a number of food vendors, including:• Patisserie, which offers a selection of delicious homemade pastries and cookies.
• Muffin Tops, which makes a wide variety of freshly baked breads.
• Temecula-based Majestic Garlic, a producer of garlic paste that is healthy and vegan.
• Baba Foods, which offers a broad range of authentic Mediterranean dips and sauces made from fresh ingredients, all of which are high in nutritional value.
• The Chicken Shack, which provides ready-to-eat, free-range chicken on a stick.
• Fred's Tamales, which offers homemade tamales that are ready to be enjoyed or taken home by hungry shoppers.

“These new additions will only add to the success of this local Farmers Market, generating new friendly conversations, advice, and interactions between customers and local food producers.  It is these connections that make our Farmers Market such an integral part of our local culture,” Espinosa adds.   Promenade Temecula’s Certified Farmers Market is held every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is located in the JCPenney parking lot.
