Temecula Council to Vote on Redevelopment Agency Issues
Council to decide whether to take on property owned by the soon-to-be unfunded Redevelopment Agency.
The Temecula City Council will vote tonight to absorb more parts of the city’s Redevelopment Agency, specifically real estate owned by the agency and the agency’s housing functions.
Earlier this month, Governor Brown issued a state budget that cut all funding to local redevelopment agencies, essentially ending those groups existence.
Temecula has already formed a housing authority to manage money set aside for new affordable housing. The redevelopment agency had also transferred the grant deed for the Town Square Marketplace to the city.

The ending of the Redevelopment agency will mean no layoffs, as many of the Redevelopment projects used employees from the city Planning Department.
The City Council will meet tonight at 6:00 p.m.
