CYT Riverside County Presents Seussical Jr.!

OH THE THINKS YOU CAN THINK AT A CYT SHOW!

CYT Riverside County Presents Seussical Jr. at Fallbrook High School

Dr. Seuss’ most beloved characters come to life on stage as CYT Riverside County presents Seussical Jr. for a six-show run at the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Fallbrook High School. Come join The Cat in the Hat as he takes audience on a magical musical adventure in one of the most popular family shows in the United States.

The curtain opens for two shows (2 p.m., 7 p.m.) Nov. 16 and drops with a 7 p.m. show Nov. 23.

The Cat in the Hat (played by Bailey Norris) tells the adventurous story of Horton, a good-natured and kind elephant who one day hears voices coming from a tiny speck of dust. Horton (Joe Stein) discovers on this speck of dust an entire planet of Whos, and makes it his pledge to protect the planet at any cost because “a person’s a person, no matter how small.”

Not only must Horton protect the speck of dust, which contains such iconic Seuss characters as JoJo (Casey Rubin), Sour Kangaroo (Kiarah Davis) and Grinch (Bethany Heine), he is also entrusted to guard an abandoned egg left in his care by Mayzie La Bird (Katie Kostecka). Although he is tested along the way, the faithful and trustworthy Horton keeps his head high through much adversity and many naysayers.

Showing the deepest amount of faith in Horton is Gertrude McFuzz (Kaitlyn Erickson), who sings “Notice Me Horton” in a touching show of affection toward the sweet elephant. Other songs such as “Oh The Thinks You Can Think” and “Alone in the Universe” are included in this musical adventure from Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. The show is directed by Season Bowers with choreography by Blythe Baker and musical direction by Angie Knechtel. The artistic director is Jennifer Lloyd.

CYT Riverside County is a non-profit theater arts training program for students ages 4-18. CYT offers a variety of singing, dancing and performance classes as well as Broadway-style musicals in the fall, winter and spring.
