Second Saturdays: FREE Ofrenda Workshop for Kids

Second Saturdays: Free Family Art Discoveries

Once every month, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido’s Education department offers free art and dance activities to engage and entertain the whole family. The one- to two-hour classes, held in Studios 1 and 3, explore art or movement. We provide the materials—you just bring your creativity!

From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Sat., Nov. 9, the Center will host an Ofrenda Workshop to tie into the annual Mexican holiday of Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.

Independent artist Daniel Martinez will lead the workshop. Meaning offering in Spanish, elaborate ofrendas are set up during Día de los Muertos to honor one's ancestors. The workshop will discuss this cultural tradition of Mexico as well as the significance of the Day of the Dead celebration while children create their own ofrendas.

All ages are welcome.
