WOW First Wednesdays: Free Blues Concert by Wyatt Lowe & the Youngbloods

Center offers cure for the mid-week blues with WOW First Wednesdays free concert series
Youth blues trio, Wyatt Lowe & the Youngbloods, to perform Dec. 4

Finding it hard to get over the hump? The WOW First Wednesdays concert series at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido (the Center) will help you bust out of that mid-week slump and get you groovin' toward the weekend.

The best part? It's completely free! And there are three show times to choose from!

Held the first Wednesday of the month in the 400-seat Center Theater, the WOW First Wednesdays series boasts a diverse lineup, with performances expertly curated to fulfill every musical desire. There are concerts at 1, 4 and 7 p.m.

THE LINEUP: DECEMBER SHOWCASES YOUNG BLUES TRIO
An all-youth blues trio whose members have spent their formative years rockin' the So Cal blues scene, Wyatt Lowe & the Youngbloods will take the Center Theater stage Wed., Dec. 4.

The band consists of Wyatt Lowe (age 15, guitar and vocals), Jaxun Blinn (age 15, drums) and Connor Patlan (age 15, bass). Wyatt Lowe & the Youngbloods have quickly turned into a hot "young gun" band focused on playing driving, soulful Blues, Rockabilly and Roots. They recently returned from the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn., representing San Diego in the Youth Showcase, where they played in some of the most famous blues clubs in the country (Wet Willies, Hard Rock Cafe and B.B. King's Blues Club).

For the boys, blues music truly is in their blood. Wyatt "Sodapop" Lowe was born and raised into the genre at Chappy's Roadhouse, his family's BBQ and Blues restaurant in Temecula, California. Jaxun "Dropstix" Blinn is the son of San Diego blues icon Scottie Blinn, front man for the Mississippi Mudsharks and Black Market III. And Connor "Chulo" Patlan, Wyatt's school band buddy, grew up under the musical influence of his uncle, Noel "Toca" Rivera, percussionist for Jason Mraz.

Wyatt Lowe & the Youngbloods' crossover between traditional blues and rockabilly gives their music a punch, and the band's self-titled EP has received worldwide airplay. In addition to their original music, the trio features covers from John Lee Hooker, T-Bone Walker, Lightnin' Hopkins, Jimmie Vaughan, The Ghastly Ones, The Black Keys and many more. And critics agree: their talent belies their age.

"Back in the day for Wyatt Lowe was what, elementary school? But he is both comfortable and credible in his role as a front man and he knows his way around blues chords and blues scales and appears to be able to solo endlessly in long streams and phrases that contain well-oiled quotes to many of the greats. Kid's got chops. So do the Youngbloods, for that matter -- Jaxon Blinn on drums, and bassist Connor Patlan." - Dave Good, San Diego Reader (June 23, 2012)

The band announced in July that the Lowe family, longtime Temecula residents, would be relocating to Jackson Hole, Wyo., so the Dec. 4 concerts in Escondido will be a reunion show for the boys and their fans.
