Wine Country Community Plan Ad Hoc Committee Meeting

If you didn't have a chance to attend the town hall meeting last Monday evening at Mt. Palomar Winery, here are a few items of interest:

1)  The first roundabout will probably start construction in Jan. 2012 at Anza and Rancho CA Rds.  The utility companies will have to dig up their lines first, so that will be the first activity at that intersection.

2) "Dozens" of public meetings will take place to disseminate info about this plan and receive public input.  Sup. Stone is asking for everyone's ideas and concerns; he gave his French Valley office phone # 955-1030, and email: supjeffstone.org to encourage communication from the public. (He also stated he is only running for County Supervisor one more time in 2012.)

3) We are currently on revision 6 of the plan; rev. 7 is not expected to be written until after the 6/15 meeting.  "Twelve or thirteen" revisions may be written.

4) Water studies thus far are showing Temecula's groundwater "already exceeds" acceptable salinity levels, so a sewer system will be an important consideration. More water studies are to come from the EIR, which was just bid out for ~ $230,000 and is expected to be completed by year's end or so.  A draft report will be available for public comment (just like for the quarry).

5) The County's new slogan, taken from the residential reps, is "harmonious coexistence" among the 3 districts (winery, residential and equestrian).

Some more survey questions may be sent out soon from the Save Temecula Wine Country website -- watch for it in your emails.  The top 4 concerns given from the last survey were:  Loss of rural lifestyle, traffic, noise and increased taxes. Check out the STWC website for survey results from last STWC survey.
