2013 Commemorative Ornament Unveiled by Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley

The ornaments—featuring a scene by a local artist—are sold for $5 each and can be purchased at Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley Restores in Temecula and Lake Elsinore.

Temecula, Calif. (November 19, 2013) – It’s an artist’s dream to have their work cemented in history. For artist Gabriele Baber, her dream has come true, again. Gabriele’s “Going Home for the Holidays” painting was picked by Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley to represent their 2013 commemorative holiday ornament. This is the second time Gabriele’s artwork has won the annual art contest.

Over 16 local artists submitted paintings in hopes to win the Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley holiday art contest. Board members, staff, volunteers and vendors of the local nonprofit voted for their favorite painting, with Gabrielle’s piece gaining the most votes. Second place winner was Angie Canevari, whose artwork will adorn the organization’s holiday card.

The commemorative ornaments are sold for $5 each and can be purchased at the Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley Restores located at 27479 Enterprise Circle West, Temecula, CA or 570 Central Avenue, Suite I in Lake Elsinore or at Christmas Tree Lane located in the lower level Macy’s Woman’s wing at Promenade Temecula.

In addition to raising funds through ornament sales, Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley hopes to increase awareness and fundraising efforts through their Christmas Tree Lane holiday tree drawing. Shoppers are invited to purchase $1 drawing tickets for an opportunity to win one of the professionally decorated trees. The opportunity drawing will take place on Christmas Tree Lane on Sunday, December 15 at 7 p.m. Guests who purchase $25 in drawing tickets will receive a free ornament.

“Our holiday art contest crystalizes the real-life impact behind our programs through this yearly art depiction," states Tammy Marine, Executive Director. "Gabriele Baber is a well-known and respected artist and a longtime supporter of Habitat. For that reason, her entry is particularly meaningful this year. We hope that our supporters, volunteers, shoppers, advocates, and event attendees will purchase an ornament as a reminder of their connection to Habitat for Humanity and how their efforts are improving living conditions for many in the Inland Valley. The ornaments also make great gifts to friends and staff to remind them of the importance of community service and giving back."
