I'm embracing lasting things, not last things. For example: The last book I read is The Present; and a lasting book I read is Magic Of Thinking Big when I was 17. Here's my distinction: New is nice, lasting is nostalgic.
The lasting book has memories attached to it. I remember sitting cross-legged on my bed soaking up every word in that book. It was the beginning of my journey in self improvement/self empowerment.
It is so easy to get caught up in the new thing and forget the tried and true. Sometimes for the sake of progress, connectedness can become lost.
I believe that appreciating lasting things reconnects us to the best parts of ourselves.
