My Morning Epiphany: Pre-sent Circumstances

Each day I gift myself with awareness. This one thing prevents me from staying in a blue funk. I live in my head like everyone else does.

In My Daily Practice I read usually an excerpt or chapter from a book. It’s usually the title that gets my attention. Today was no different. The chapter this morning is The Power Of Choice. While reading it, my thought jumped on an entirely new track. I LOVE when that happens.

The author, Sandra Anne Taylor was sharing that options ALWAYS remain open. She went on to say that a lot of times we limit ourselves according to our circumstances of our lives. Here’s where My Morning Epiphany kicked in!

We limit ourselves to our present (pre-sent) circumstances. Pre-sent is not permanent. They are simply things set in motion prior. We can choose to suspend the impact of whatever isn’t right, hasn’t worked, yada, yada, yada. Those are all things set in motion in the past.

They are temporary (subject to change). Let’s look at things with a fresh perspective. What if it does work out? What if it could work out this time? Focusing our attitude (thought and emotion) toward the desired end. What are ways to accomplish this you may be asking yourself? All I can share is what works for me. As the old saying goes, “it works if you work it”.

My personality is that I am loyal, faithful. When I am in relationship (friend, romantic, business), it’s importance is directly tied to my calendar and my checkbook. I invest my time and resources to it. Same with making any type of advancements or strides. My calendar clearly shows my commitment. In this instance I make and keep daily appointments with myself. As I eluded to earlier, they are My Daily Practice. Investing in the tools necessary to facilitate a successful time and carving out the time in my calendar are critical. By adhering to this commitment I remind myself of my value. Each day I gift myself with awareness. This one thing prevents me from staying in a blue funk.

I live in my head like everyone else does. Thoughts and attitudes that don’t serve me are wiped away quickly because I continually hit the reset button on my thinking when necessary. Back to the pre-sent circumstances. I’m not suggesting absolute disregard from past mistakes, failures, blunders or experiences. I am suggesting that they are placed in their proper perspective.....the past.

They are a prior mistake, a prior failure, a prior blunder or experience! They are pre-sent, not your present and definitely not part of your or my future unless invited. Let’s go back to the basics, shall we?

Let’s start with 5 minutes a day (commit to more if you can). The night before have at your bedside an inspirational book, poetry, bible, religious, spiritual or motivational text to read. Hi-liter. Couple of pens. Journal or notebook to capture thoughts, ideas and feelings. Plan to wake up a few minutes earlier than usual to spend time with yourself before the demands of the day capture your attention and intention.

This is totally doable. You deserve it, don’t you? Of course you do!
